About Us

Capitol mosquito control is a family owned and operated small business. In 2013, we started out of a row house on Capitol Hill with one goal in mind: to get rid of the mosquitoes that are spreading disease and making summers outside unbearable while using organic, eco-safe products. As our company grew, our office relocated to Hyattsville, MD, however, we still keep our DC roots alive. We are proud to service all over the DC area. Every year, our company donates to our local schools and gets involved with community outreach. We are happily expanding farther into Maryland and Virginia, as well. Great customer service is one thing that we do not take lightly. Capitol Mosquito Control is not a franchise and it is very likely that you will speak with the same person throughout the season. Our offices may be closed after hours but we are always responsive, no matter what. The products we use are organic and all natural, but they work! We pay a little more for the best because the environment, animals, and children are important to us, too. Since we are a small business, there are no added franchise fees and we are able to keep our prices lower than the rest. That is a guarantee.

Mosquito Borne illness is on the rise and we don’t want to see another adult, child, or pet become ill from a simple bite. From West Nile to Zika, and heartworms to encephalitis we are doing our part in eradicating mosquitos one yard at a time.

PROTECT CHILDREN & PETS NATURALLY!

Children and pets are at increased risk from insect-borne disease. One reason is that they tend to spend more time outdoors, where exposure is greatest. In fact, two-thirds of all Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever cases occur in children under 15. Plus, mosquito-borne disease is more likely to be life threatening to these vulnerable groups in particular. Encephalitis, especially, is more likely to be fatal or permanently debilitating to the very young and the very old. Also, heartworm's are deadly to dogs.

Regular treatment by Capitol Mosquito Control helps protect your family and pets from these dangers in your own backyard. When venturing beyond your yard, or for extra protection, the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) details additional measures you can take.

Even with precautions, you can never be 100% protected from mosquito-borne disease. However, early detection can help minimize the effects of these diseases. Familiarizing yourself with their detailed lists of early symptoms of encephalitis and West Nile Virus can make all the difference.

One professional spray helps protect your family from the nuisance and danger of mosquitoes for the next three weeks. The spray kills adult mosquitoes  (as well as ticks) on contact. Then, as incoming mosquitoes attempt to land on  your greenery, the residual spray on the leaves knocks these newcomers out!

Protect your family and pets from tick-borne disease.

Disease-infested ticks have always been a concern, as they carry deadly diseases such as Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. However, the vigorous spread of Lyme disease in recent years has made tick-borne disease increasingly worrisome. While Capitol Mosquito Control’s barrier spray will kill adult ticks on contact, additional precautions should be taken to provide on-going protection.

Talk to your Capitol Mosquito Control representative about the safety measures you should take if you have any of the following circumstances likely to promote tick exposure:

  • Your property is adjacent to woods, fields or tall grasses.
  • Your property contains a wall fence.
  • You or a member of your family gardens.
  • Your children play in or around fields, trees or tall grasses.
  • You have trees, shrubbery or dense groundcover plantings on your property.
  • You have a brush, wood or compost pile on your property.
  • You have leaf litter on your property.
  • You have pets that are allowed outdoors.

Capitol Mosquito Control only uses products registered by the Environmental Protection Agency and included on the Organic Material Review Institute list.

Capitol Mosquito Control adheres to all local, state and federal licensing guidelines. We utilizes pest-control solutions that have been registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for general use and never use highly-toxic restricted-use pesticides. The reason is they not only contaminate groundwater but pose a serious health risk to your family and pets. We use an organic spray specially formulated for the National Capitol Region. The active ingredient in our synthetic spray is a botanical reproduction of a substance derived from chrysanthemums. This same basic ingredient can be found in a variety of household products.

Our solution will take down any adult mosquitoes (as well as ticks) that encounter the spray. Under typical conditions, the solution will dry in 30 minutes posing a negligible chance of transferring to people or animals that brush against the vegetation. However, for the next 21 days, the dried residue continues to kill mosquitoes that come in contact with the shrubbery.

Special care is taken to prevent hurting beneficial pollinators such as honeybees, butterflies, and ladybugs. For instance, our trained Capitol Mosquito Control professionals do their best to avoid blossoms where bees gather nectar and pollen.
